What to Expect...

  • Where are you located?
We are located at 400 S. Travis Street in Sherman, Texas. Click here for directions.
  • What time does your service start?
Our worship service starts at 10:45 on Sunday mornings and runs until about noon. Most of the people start gathering into the sanctuary around 10:30 as they transition from Sunday school to the worship service. If you are looking for a good time to arrive so that you can slip in comfortably, 10:30-10:40 would be a great time. Of course, you are always welcome to come at 9:30 and attend one of our Sunday school classes as well!
  • What should I expect during the service?
You can expect to be greeted by a warm group of people who will be glad that you are there. You can expect to see people just like you...people who are seeking a deeper relationship with God and with one another. At First Baptist Sherman we are all about Jesus. Therefore, you should expect to hear us worship Jesus through songs that are a combination of traditional church hymns and contemporary worship music; learn about Jesus from our pastor who usually spends about 30 minutes sharing a relevant teaching from the Bible; and to hear how Jesus has changed people’s lives through personal stories. You will experience a friendly and welcoming environment from the time you arrive. Our people work hard to provide a worshipful experience for everyone who comes through the door. We also participate in a time of gathering our financial offerings for the Lord. As the offering is taken we invite you to just drop in your Welcome Card (the perforated section of your bulletin) that you can fill out that morning instead of feeling pressured to give money. However if you would like to give a financial offering to the Lord you are certainly welcome to do so and we invite you to join us in that time of worship as well.

  • Do you have anything for my kids during church?
Absolutely! We offer a full service nursery for children four and under. Children age five through 6th grade are invited to join together downstairs for Children's Church during the time that our pastor delievers his message upstairs in the worship service. We understand how hard it is to engage in the worship service when you are worried about or trying to corral your children. We also feel that Children's Chruch gives us an opportunity to teach them the principles of the Bible in a way that is more relevant and life changing for them than having to sit through a long sermon. However, if you would like for your children to stay with you during the service, we think that is pretty wonderful too and invite you to feel free to have them with you in the sanctuary!

We value the safety and security of your child and try to model that value by providing a secure and safe environment for your child while you are attending worship. All caregivers go through background checks and interviews as well as CPR training. While at FBC Sherman your children will learn gospel stories from the Bible and be encouraged to participate in activities that will help them remember and live out the gospel in their lives. We want to partner with you in the discipleship of your children.

  • What should I wear to church?
We want you to be comfortable! At FBC Sherman, you will find a little bit of everything. We have people who wear jeans and casual shirts to people who are wearing suits and ties. We feel that as long as you are modest in your selection, you will fit right in! We invite you to wear whatever you feel comforable in!
  • What door do we come in?
We have many entrances to our building and they are all used on Sunday morning. Please use the enterance that is most convenient to you. As you come in the door one of our friendly greeters will provide you with a bulletin containing information for the service and church activities for the week.
